Peter Dolling was born in Langley, BC and moved to Vancouver in 2006 where he now calls Kitsilano home. Having lived in the lower mainland for almost his entire life, Peter is passionate about growing and strengthening the local communities. With a lifelong enthusiasm for the environment and sustainability, Peter chose environmental leadership as a career path. Peter has a professional focus on biodiversity and urban forestry in his current role as an operations manager for a Vancouver based environmental consultancy. Peter holds certifications with the Environmental Careers Organization (ECO) of Canada and the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA).
Peter achieved a Technical Diploma in Sustainable Resource Management from BCIT in 2013 and is currently studying a Bachelors of Science in Environmental Practice part-time from Royal Roads University. Peter has over 15 years of professional management and leadership experience which includes a Management certificate from Vancouver Community College that he obtained in 2016.
Peter was raised to strongly support community values. Both his parents worked within the non-profit sector, specifically with organizations that provided community support for marginalized peoples and the elderly. Building strong teams and tackling challenging problems with community engagement is a core tenant of Peter’s values. In 2015 Peter founded a local outdoor recreation community with a focus on removing barriers to entry for those seeking a safe and encouraging entry into mountain sports.
Peter has been a supporter of the Green Party since the 2015 federal election and a member since the 2019 federal election. Peter was drawn to join, and ultimately run for, The Green Party of Canada due to its platform that strongly aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Peter enjoys all of the wonderful landscapes that BC offers; you can often find him exploring the wilderness rock climbing, snowboarding, backpacking, camping, and sailing.
